Guess who's fucked his back up again?
It's a wonderful experience to not even be able to lace your shoes properly :(
Doc appointment in 45 minutes, let's hope it clears up fast. Last time wasn't a pleasant experience. |

Can anyone suggest a reason why MSN seems to not want to connect?
Pretty much out of nowhere, it just times out when it connects. Changing client doesn't solve it, neither does changing password (I can still log into the MSN webshite without any problems). It just times out, and tries to connect for ever. |

| Music, Mead, Meat and Merch - Selerox Goes To Leipzig |
[May. 19th, 2008|08:19 pm] |
This was Suzie and I's first time at WGT, and we both had an amazing time. We're definitely going back next year! :) Massive thanks to Jamie and Mary for guiding us through it all! Bullet point format stolen (with permission) from marylittlegoth, because it's cool :) Bands seen: - Das Ich (very cool)
- Sigue Sigue Sputnik (awful)
- Unheilig (very, very good)
- Spectra Paris (truly awful)
- Signal Aout 42 (awful)
- Hocico (really, really good)
- Covenant (great, but dodgy sound)
- Miss Construction (bad)
- Spetnaz (truly fucking horrendous on an epic scale)
Interesting alcohol drunk and food eaten: - Mead (not bad)
- Wikingerblut Mead (WANT! The fact you can't get it here makes me want to cry)
- Rosen Federweisser (WANT! Amazingly good summer drink)
- Fennel Spirit (nice)
- Ginger Spirit (waaaaaay too strong)
- Centaury Spirit (it burned)
- Rowan Spirit (not too bad)
- Sloe Spirit (bought a bottle on the spot)
- Schwarzbier (surprisingly nice, a little too heavy to drink a lot of though)
- Weisbier (very nice, very refreshing)
- Jägermeister (at last, somewhere that stocks the stuff as standard!)
- Roster @ Agra, aka "Agra Pig" (Amazing wurst in a bun that was our sole sustenance at the Agra)
- Wurst @ Medieval Fair (not bad, not as good as "Agra Pig" though)
- Fresh baked bread with garlic @ Medieval Fair (best bread I've ever had, truly amazing)
- Currywurst (never, ever again)
Things I did: - Discover Leipzig (seems like a nice place)
- Rode on trams (very cool)
- Discover that it's impossible to be the best-dressed person at the Agra
- Discover that it's impossible to be the worst-dressed person at the Agra
- Wear shorts (doesn't happen very often)
- Wore a lot of stupidly high-factor sunblock (thanks Mary!)
- Realise that my German really isn't very good (will improve for next year!)
- Get scared shitless by German taxi drivers
- Have a few "speshul" moments
- Enjoy the wonders of ex-Soviet airbases (the Agra and Altenburg Airport)
- Bitch about what strangers were wearing
- Enjoy myself a lot!
People I met: - Jamie and Mary (our guides and mentors in Leipzig, thanks a million guys, we'd have been lost without you - literally!)
- Adam (*makes popping sound with mouth*, thanks for hiding our alcohol from the scary Agra guards!)
- Wez, Stephan and other elements of Luton (good to see you folks there!)
- Thomas and Amanda (Nice folks, who make funky corsets and steampunkery)
Things I bought:- Metal necklace thing (not something I usually go for, but this was a "WANT!" moment)
- Nitzer Ebb combat vest.
- Suicide Commando Hoody
- Front Line Assembly Hoody (to replace my old one that's worn out)
- Two Front 242 t-shirts (one black, one camo)
- Nitzer Ebb t-shirt
- Covenant t-shirt
- Hocico t-shirt
- Das Ich t-shirt
- Funker Vogt t-shirt
- Plain black worker shirt
- Hocico CD
- [:SITD:] CD
- Iris CD
- Three Solitary Experiments CDs
- Out of Line Sampler CD
- Festival Program (which was worth an order of magnitude more than what you pay for it)
Can you guess what I spent a lot of time at the Agra doing?
New places visited:
The Agra - The centre of the Goth World for four days. An amazing experience of shopping, mead, music, people-watching and pig in a bun. The Moritz Bastei - Amazing venue of underground chambers. With a cocktail bar and heaven's own chilli con carne.
The Darkflower - Small, but amazingly cool little club. It's only a minor club in Leipzig, but it blows most of the UK's clubs out of the water. The Kohlrabizirkus - Didn't stay long, due to awful sound quality. The Medieval Fair - Really nice, very relaxed atmosphere, and some great food and drink.
Same time next year folks? |

The Government has rejected outright the anti-subculture hate crime petition. "Legislation focuses on hate crimes on the basis of race, faith, sexual orientation, disability and gender identity - and it is these categories which are currently monitored. We do not plan to extend this to include hatred against people on the basis of their appearance or sub-cultural interests." We don't matter. It's official government policy. |

My grandmother passed away at 4:30AM on Saturday.
She'd been ill for a while, and recently took a drastic turn for the worse on Friday. I managed so get to see her for a while on Friday evening, and most of the family got to her in time. None of us were sure how long she'd last. She hung on until early in the morning, but it was too much. She was very, very ill, so it came as a relief when she finally let go.
She's free at last. |

Thanks to everyone who came down, especially the long ranged folks from Luton who showed their support en masse. It was much appreciated!

| Ever have one of those feelings... |
[Mar. 27th, 2008|02:32 pm] |
I've been off work since the 7th March. Long story short, work messed up on holiday. Last night I had a dream. I, as a rule, don't remember dreams. I remembered last night's.
The dream consisted of me going back to work and being told that it's all gone horribly wrong because the guy I trained to do my job either couldn't hack it, or that I'd screwed up on training and forgotten something important.
I don't like dreams like that. Especially when I remember them. Especially when they happen to tap into something that worries me enough during the daytime as it is :(

[Mar. 12th, 2008|01:28 pm] |
So, what did I do yesterday?
I ran around Southampton promoting Extinction via putting out lots and lots and lots of fliers. This went well.
I also went to Intrusion in Oxford with doctorrdave. The last time I made it down to Intrusion was for my birthday last June, and just like then, I had a great time. Oxford seems to contain a very friendly crowd, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable night. Running back to the car through hail and gales wasn't so fun, but it could have been worse.
The rest of the day was spent travelling around between said locations. This involved 3 car journeys, 2 buses, a train and a ferry. Yes, you read that last part right.
200 miles. 4 methods of transport. 5 journeys.
Suffice to say that I was ever so slightly busy... |

[Jan. 13th, 2008|10:48 pm] |
So, a new beginning. Goth/Industrial returns to the Bang Bar. On short notice, and on a wet Friday in January.
In short, it was a blinder! One of the best night's out I've had in a long time, with a great atmosphere, lots of new and returning faces, and a very nice mix of music. Something for everyone in spades :)
Roll on the next one! :) |

| Insanitorium - DJ Adventures Part VI |
[Jan. 6th, 2008|08:24 pm] |
So, I got let loose on the Insanitorium decks, and I was frankly crapping myself. I was fine until I got there though, thanks to Suzie doing a wonderful job as always of keeping me relaxed and confident :)
After some kit chaos at the start, including some last second amp re-calibration, we were away! I was on third, which suited me because it gave me - in the words of Jamie - "more drinking time". I'm not entirely sure my mixing was up to scratch, and I had a few panics at the trying to get used to the odd layout of the kit (which I loved using once I'd gotten used to it), which is pretty much a regular feature of my DJ adventures :) I was far more happy with my track selection, as it had a lot of tracks I've never done before, and had more variety to it than some of my other ones.
After the night ended, we headed out en mass to sample The Castle, where further wrongness and drinking occurred. The journey back was interrupted by Katie almost fracturing her elbow, and a brief stop-off to grab some chips on the way back.
A good time was had by all! :)
The playlist ran as:
The Birthday Massacre - Kill The Lights Clan of Xymox - Jasmine and Rose Diary of Dreams - Butterfly:Dance! Lights of Euphoria - Nothing At All Diorama - Synthesise Me Wolfsheim - Heroin, She Said
KMFDM - Looking For Strange In Strict Confidence - Promised Land Seabound - Scorch The Ground Solitary Experiments - Homesick Plastic - Sense of Life ([:SITD:] Remix) Rotersand - Exterminate Annihilate Destroy
Front Line Assembly - Mindphaser Apoptygma Berzerk - Until The End Of The World (Dark Club Remix) Assemblage 23 - Drive Covenant - Call The Ships to Port (Single Version) Das Ich - Destillat (VNV Nation Remix) VNV Nation - Chrome ([:SITD:] Remix)
Massive thanks to Martin, Jamie, Evil Stu and the entire Insanitorium crew for giving me the chance. Thanks as well to Jamie and Mary for putting us up once again on UberFuton :) |
